CORRUGATED FINWALL MANUFACTURE

The tank is manufactured with cooling fins
(corrugated tank) using a special cold rolled sheet steel, with 1 to 1.5
mm thickness. These fins have a sufficient degree of elasticity to
absorb expansion in volume of the liquid (insulating oil) and at the
same time they provide a large surface area to dissipate the heat
emerged.
The steel thickness and the fin depth, combined with
the steel wall height determine the fin elasticity and the limit of
acceptable tank over pressure.
An automated corrugated production line takes care of
even the minutes technical consideration before complete fin walls are
delivered.
EMBOSSING DETAILS IN CORRUGATIONS
While
designing corrugations, a proper balance is to be kept between the
extent of stiffening of fins to build adequate mechanical strength and
flexibility in order to ensure proper breathing action, which is caused
by expansion and contraction of fins. Carefully chosen embossing in
locations along the depth of corrugated fins provide a correct balance
between these two factors.
Embossing is employed in corrugated fins beyond a
certain depth as per figure given to meet the stiffening criterion.
Selection of thickness of fins based on fin dimensions is made as per
data given in graphics.
